Republic Bank Limited acquired 51% of the shareholding in National Bank of Industry and Commerce Limited on November 20, 1997. The subsidiary was officially rebranded as Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited on June 2, 2006.

Republic Bank Limited acquired 100% of RBC Royal Bank (Suriname) N.V. from RBC Financial (Caribbean) Limited, through the purchase of Royal Overseas Holdings (St. Lucia) Limited. On July 31, 2015, RBC Royal Bank (Suriname) N.V. was rebranded to Republic Bank (Suriname) NV.
