Republic Bank Invests $25 Million In Corporate Social Responsibility Initatives

Port of Spain, Trinidad, December 17, 2015: “Your selflessness and determination has not gone unnoticed. You are the true heroes. You all are the ones who pound the pavements daily and make sure things happen. Well done!” These were the words of gratitude and appreciation shared by Republic Bank’s out-going Managing Director, David Dulal-Whiteway, at the Launch of the 2015-2016 installment of Republic Bank’s Power to Make a Difference Programme, held at Republic House, Park Street, Port of Spain, on December 14 (Monday).

With an overall investment of TT$25 million, the Bank has once again strengthened its efforts on assisting with the differently abled; poverty alleviation; literacy and youth development through the work of various Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Community Based Organisation (CBO’s). The Bank renewed its commitment with some of the existing charities, while fostering new relationships in its thrust to establish societal growth and development throughout Trinidad and Tobago.

A total of 30 recipients were presented with their contributions from members of the Executive Management Team of Republic Bank.

Delivering the opening remarks, themed, “Legacy of Service”, Republic Bank’s General Manager, Group Marketing and Communications, Michelle Palmer-Keizer, recapped the journey on which the charities embarked over the last year, whilst also paying tribute to David Dulal-Whiteway, who was instrumental in spearheading the Power to Make a Difference Programme from its inception in 2003.

“The essence of this programme is that we must be of service to our fellowmen. We have been successful in our efforts to be of service to our communities, customers, shareholders and staff, particularly because we have had at our helm, great teachers,” Palmer-Keizer said.

Some of the sponsored organisations going forward include; Culture House, Archdiocesan Family Life Commission, Vision on Mission, St. Ann’s/Cascade Motivational Programme, Habitat for Humanity, Loveuntil Foundation, UWI North Campus, Two Cents Movement and El Socorro Central Government Primary School.

Republic Bank welcomes the new charities on board and looks forward to the continued relationships with the existing recipients in its drive to make a positive difference in the lives of the less fortunate who slip through the cracks in our society.
