Port of Spain, Trinidad, Friday, October 29, 2010: Republic Bank concluded its annual Laventille Netball League 2010 at the Bank’s Head Office Conference Room on October 23. Now in its 14th year, the Republic Bank Laventille Netball League is one of the many ways by which the Bank empowers individuals and helps build communities as a main objective of its Power to Make a Difference programme.
In the Beginners category, Horizon took first place, followed by Belmont Stars One and Harlem. St. Jude’s Girls led the B Division with Hill Girls and Belmont Stars rounding out in second and third respectively. Soul City moved up in the Inters category edging out Storm and Harlem. In the A Division, Belmont Stars secured top honours followed closely by Horizon and Harlem respectively.
One of the major highlights of the 2010 Season was Kalifa McCollin from Soul City who achieved a League milestone by shooting 100% in concurrent games.
During her remarks at the awards ceremony, Republic Bank Tragarete Branch Sales Manager, Rhonda Joseph-Walters challenged the young achievers to aim even higher.
“As you accept your awards and accolades, I am challenging you to better. I challenge you to play your part in building a nation,” she said.
Joseph-Walters added, “Republic Bank and the League committee have accepted that challenge and waged the campaign for 14 years. That is why we have stuck with the League for all this time. We have embraced our role in laying the foundation for the future. Not just the future of netball in the country, but the very future of the country itself. Are you ready to accept yours?”
The Republic Bank Laventille Netball League programme continues to attract and produce outstanding and accomplished young sportswomen; encouraging them to further become community pillars.
