Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, December 15, 2015: The Woodbrook community came alive with the sound of music, as Republic Bank and the Love Movement Choir, hosted their annual “A Gift of Love” Christmas concert, before a packed Adam Smith Square on Saturday (December 12).
The concert, which is in its 12th year, is a community initiative featuring all three choirs of the Love Movement, in a relaxed and cozy environment. Patrons flocked the Square from as early as 6pm, with their mats and chairs in hand, in an effort to get the best seat in the house. At which time, they were treated to pre-show entertainment by the newest addition to the Love Movement line up, the Love Tones steel orchestra.
Republic Bank’s Managing Director, David Dulal-Whiteway, thanked the Woodbrook residents for their support over the years, adding that the concerts were aimed at sharing the message of the season to those in attendance. “We host these concerts with you in mind, because we want to leave with the community, a little something extra to savour around the holidays,” Dulal-Whiteway said.
He continued, “We want each person here to savour the experience. If you have come here not quite feeling the Christmas spirit, I pray that changes halfway through the first song.”
With candles lifted high, patrons joined in with the Love Movement Senior Choir as they sang “Merry Chirstmas, the War is Over” by John Lennon. Some of the other selections were; ‘We Will Rock You” and “The Impossible Dream” which was a tribute to Dulal-Whiteway, as he prepares for his retirement in February, 2016.
The curtains were brought down with a beautiful rendition of ‘Its Christmas’, where the Senior Choir was joined on stage by the Youth Outreach and Lights of Love Choirs.
Republic Bank is pleased to have shared with the public, the powerful message of love, hope and peace through the hosting of this concert, and takes this time to wish the nation a happy and peaceful Christmas and a prosperous 2016.
