Board of Directors

Shazan Ali, joined the Board of Directors in 2010. He is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TOSL Engineering Limited. He has a wealth of experience in the energy industry and spent the last 34 years developing TOSL Engineering into a world-class operation with interests in the wider Caribbean, the Guianas and Sub-Saharan Africa.

External Appointments
Mr. Ali is the Deputy Chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago Local Content Chamber (TTLCC) and a Council Member of the Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago (ECTT). In these roles, he aims to fashion a more pro-active energy services sector that will redound more financial benefits to the Trinidad and Tobago economy.

Peter R. Inglefield was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2015. He served as a Tax Partner and Managing Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers and is the author of the Trinidad and Tobago Chapter of the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation’s (IBFD) publication on worldwide taxation. Mr. Inglefield has extensive experience in all aspects of doing business in Trinidad and Tobago, particularly with respect to advising incoming investors on structuring of local operations, withholding tax issues and tax treaty consideration. Mr. Peter Inglefield is a chartered accountant and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Trinidad and Tobago.

External Appointments
Mr. Inglefield is a director of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange, Murphy Clarke Financial Limited and Industrial Rubber Products Limited.

Alison Lewis was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2014. She was a governor of the Heritage and Stabilisation Fund. She has worked as an Advisor in the office of Executive Director World Bank and as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance. Over the last two decades, Ms. Lewis sat on several Boards of Directors, including those of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago and the Sovereign Wealth Funds Group.

Kristine Thompson joined the Board of Directors in 2011. She is an Independent Consultant and Entrepreneur. She is heavily involved in project development, particularly in the energy sector, and has extensive experience in the fields of finance, private equity, mergers and acquisitions and general management. The early years of her career were spent in management consulting with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) where she advised Fortune 500 companies, with stints at BCG’s Toronto, New York, Buenos Aires and Melbourne offices. She then headed the business development function at Guardian Holdings for many years. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University in Canada and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.

External Appointments
Mrs. Thompson currently acts as Chairman of Trinidad and Tobago’s investment promotion agency, InvesTT, and serves as a Non-Executive Director on the Boards of the Caribbean Communications Network (CCN) and the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business.

Gregory I. Thomson has over 35 years of experience in Banking and Finance. He was the Deputy Managing Director of Republic Bank Limited for seven years and retired from this postion in 2012. Mr. Thomson joined the Board of Directors in 2014. Mr. Thomson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Physics from The University of the West Indies and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Western Ontario, Canada.

Ian L. Benjamin, Head of Bethany Chambers, Port-of-Spain, is a career advocate attorney with over 25 years’ experience in practicing and teaching law in Trinidad and Tobago, the United Kingdom, and Australia. He is a well-regarded authority on legal matters pertaining to banking, financial regulation, company, insolvency, insurance, pension, and tax litigation, construction disputes, professional negligence, and constitutional motions. He joined the Republic Bank Limited Board of Directors in August 2016.

Mr. Benjamin began his career in the Office of the Attorney General of Trinidad and Tobago in 1990, and has held several academic teaching posts at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago; the University of Sydney, Australia; and Kingston Polytechnic, England.

Mr. Benjamin has been a frequent case note contributor to The Lawyer and has published papers on Professional Negligence (1994); Consumer Protection (1995); Managing the Risk of Fraud: What Now for Caribbean Insurers (2007); and Adverse Possession (2010). Mr. Benjamin was also appointed an Acting Puisne Judge in 2005.

Mr. Benjamin holds an LL.M (First Class Hons) from the University of Sydney, Australia; an LL.M. (Upper Second Class Hons) and a B.A. (First Class Hons in Law; Upper Second class Hons in Land Economy) from Girton College, University of Cambridge, England. He is admitted to the Bar of England and Wales (1998), Trinidad and Tobago (1989), Dominica (2008), Grenada (2013) and Anguilla (2016).

Edward Ince joined the Board of Directors in August 2016. He is the currently the Founder/Joint Managing Director of PRISM services; specialising in financial services, mail processing, storage management, and customer loyalty in Central American and Caribbean regions. Mr. Ince is also the current Chairman of all PRISM subsidiaries operating in Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad, and St. Lucia.

Mr. Ince has worked in the Information and Communication Technology sector for more than a decade; when most of his time was spent as General Manager, Eastern Caribbean, Fujitsu ICL Caribbean, where he oversaw the company’s operations in Barbados, Grenada, St. Vincent, and Dominica.

Mr. Ince serves in a non-executive capacity on a number of boards, across a diverse range of industries; including Tourism, Real Estate, Agriculture, and Offshore services. He also serves on the boards of several Barbados companies; including Cave Shepherd and Co. Limited, Barbados Sugar Industry Limited, Lynch Insurance Brokers, and Carlton A1 Supermarkets.

Mr. Ince holds a B.Sc (Hons) Computer Science from York University, Toronto, Canada, and is a former National Aubrey Collymore Scholarship Recipient for Sciences.
